Dec. 28,2009

Hey Family,

It was so great to talk with all of you. I just loved it. I wish I could have talked longer but I knew the longer I talked the harder it would be to get off. But the time we did talk was great and I just loved to hear your voices. You all sound so well and happy and I am happy that all is well. I also want to tell you one last time thanks for the Christmas stuff everything was perfect and it was just what I needed. I have the best family!

Dad I wish you the best of luck this Wednesday with surgery, I know that I will be ok and I will be praying for you, as well as thinking of you all day. I hope all goes well and that you have no problems.

Mom thanks for just being you, for your notes, for all your help, and for just being a great missionary!!!!

Katie... It was great to hear from you. I am so happy I got to talk to you and that you wrote me. Sounds like you are doing well and that school is going well. I hope your next semester goes good. Tell Rupert hello from me.

Becky and Stewart, I just love you thanks for the chat on the phone and for the Christmas gift. You two sound like you are doing great. Thanks for the words of encouragement and for your prayers.

Margie, I am happy that you are done with your first semester of school and that Christmas was good for you. I wish you luck this next semester. I love you lots!

This week was a little slow for missionary work because a lot of people were either not home or didn't want to talk. We did try to set a date with a lady we have been working with as well as trying to work with her and her family. We have so much stuff to do and it feels like we don't have time to do it.

I love Sundays but at the same time as a missionary it is sometimes frustrating. The whole week you tell people come to church you ask them to commit and they say they are coming. But when you call them 1 hour before church and even have their arranged ride go pick them up… but in the end no one comes to church because they came up with some excuse. That was this past Sunday… we didn't have any investigators. BUT on the bright side of things, 4 of our recent converts were given the priesthood yesterday. That made our day!

Well I am sorry that I don't have a ton more to tell you but I did tell you a lot when I talked to you. I just want to you to know that I love you tons and think of you all the time. Please tell everyone hi for me. I wish I had more time to write letters but I don't.Oh for New Years Eve we have to be in the house at 4:00 and then New Years Day is a P-Day for us. Today (Monday) is a normal working day we have one hour to write emails home.

I hope your New Years is great and that you have tons of fun. Stay up late for me because I will be asleep. I am going to be obedient :) Love you all!

Dec. 21, 2009

Hey Family,

This wont be a really long letter because I don't have tons of time but I get to talk to you on FRIDAY and I am so excited. First my Christmas day is kind of crazy so I think I will call you in the morning when you are all in the house and we will all be opening presents together...Yeah! Ok so if I call you at 7:30am my time it will be 6:30am your time will that work for you? I hope so we are all like little kids and we are all up at that time anyway so it is all good. Just plan on my call between 6:30 and 7 your time or if that doesn’t work I will call you at 12 my time and it will be 11 your time. This is confusing because I don't know what my schedule is like yet, I guess if all else fails I will call you in the morning and tell you what is going on for about one min so plan on a phone call around 6:30 either way. Becky and Stewart I will call you when I get an hour in the day you said you were open all day so I will call you when I can.

DAD- What in the world were you thinking?!!!!!! You are not supposed to get hurt, it is Christmas! [Note made by Becky: Emily is referring to an accident that dad had with his wood lathe, while making a wooden bowl. He broke his nose and a few bones in this cheek, as well as giving himself a large black eye.] I am happy to hear that you are doing a little better I am sorry that you got hurt but happy that it was nothing worse. Hope you know that I love you tons and I hope you get better soon. Send me some pictures so I can see what you look like, please.

Ok, on to missionary stuff… I am now training two sisters, Sister Bounds (from California) and Sister Brodhead (from Washington state) they are both great are teaching me more then I am teaching them. Sister Bounds was in the intermediate Spanish class at the MTC so she knows a lot and helps me with my Spanish, I help her with the teaching, and together we help Sister Brodhead. They are both great and they really don't need my help. Mom, that is funny that you talked to Elder Goodmans family. Elder Goodman is a great elder and a great district leader.

Mom I hope that you get your package I sent it and they told me it should get to you before Christmas so I hope that it does. It is coming! Also this Wednesday we get to go to the TEMPLE, I am excited this is my fist time to go since being in Nashville. It should be fun, and a neat experience. We get to spend 5 hours in the temple so I may get to do everything. Yeah!!!!! Also I think we have 3 dinners apt for Christmas Eve, 1 for Christmas breakfast, and 1 for Christmas dinner so we are packed. I also think we get to watch a movie on Christmas. It will be a fun day and a day full of FOOD!!!!! They feed you so much her but don't worry I am watching what they give me and how much.Oh Jose was baptized yesterday and it was amazing we have another date for the 27th of this month but we are going to have to work on him because he is a little unsure right now. I will let you know how that goes.

That is so exciting that Ashley got her mission call there. She is going to be amazing I was thinking that she would go to a visitor center I don't know why but I just kept thinking that. She will do amazing tell her congrats and I will try and get a letter written to her.

I love you tons hope all it going well. Be safe and I will call you on FRIDAY!!!!!Love

Dec. 14, 2009

Hello Family,

Hey can you believe that there is only 12 more days until Christmas and I would like you all to know that I have gotten all my packages and I have not opened them yet. So just know that I have them...Mom and Becky.

OK well on with the news....This month is full of miracles. WE had a baptism... Daniel was baptized on Saturday the 12th, and he is so happy. He told me afterwards “Thanks Hermana for everything" It just made me so happy because he was so happy. Yeah!!! His cousin Jose will be getting baptized this month as well. He had a date for this Saturday 19th but he couldn't come to church because of work so we will have to push it back a week. But he will do it.

Also we had a Christmas concert this week. A choir of missionaries sang Friday- Sunday. It was fun and you could feel the spirit really strong. I was in two quartets one in Spanish and the other in English (great fun) we sang in Kentucky two days and then in Tennessee. Also we sang in two malls and the Opry Land Hotel. That thing is HUGE!!!!!! I will have to send pictures. OK, well transfers are Tomorrow and we all knew I would be training (become a mom-in missionary terms). I will be moving back to my old apt. with the family Linares and training in that area. BUT... my old companion sister Taft got sick and they are not sure what is wrong so she can't train. So… yes, you should know where this is going. I am going to be the proud mother of TWINS!!!!!!! I know, I was just as shocked as you are right now. I don't know what the Lord is thinking but I am going for it.

President called me and said Sister Hegerhorst... I need your help. I am leaving you in Nashville and Sister Gasca (she has 2 transfers left then she goes home) is moving to Franklin (my old area) and my heart tells me to put two sisters with you. I was like ok... wow... what... I don't know what to say. But he said how do you feel, I don't want to over pack you with things. But I just feel they need to go there. So yep I don't know why but something is planned for me. I am training for the first time but I am training 2 sisters. I don't know anything about them, but yea!! It is going to be an experience and I am going to need all of your prayers. This is the first time in the mission that some one has trained two people at once and I am the lucky one. Pray for me!!!

I know I will have the help of the Lord as well as the family Linares, and the ward. Oh yeah, I will also be covering two areas but mostly mine with a couple of days a week in the other area. I don't know the other area very well so it will be like white washing and training. What did I get myself into... oh I can do it RIGHT?

Other then that everything has been really crazy I have not had a bed for about 3 days I have been sleeping on the floor but hopefully things will calm down now as I begin to train. Or maybe things were just getting me prepared for what is coming.

I don't know much about calling home only that I get to on Christmas and we can use our cell phones so I will be calling you. I am pretty sure, Becky and Stewart that I can call you but I will let you know for sure next week. But think of times that would be best and tell me next week and I will tell you what is best for me out of them. I am excited very very excited to talk to my family. I love you all so much and miss you tons. Have a great week sorry this is short but I don't have time. I am packing and not in my area and things are crazy. Also I don't know if I will get a letter written today so if I don't sorry but I will get your package sent off mom. I love you tons Have a great week and I will let you know more next week. Happy 12 days before Christmas!

Love,

Dec. 7, 2009

Hello...

Well what a crazy week and it is about to get even more crazy. My companion has been really sick this past week, so we have been in the house a lot and then last night my mission president decided that she needed to go to the mission home and rest for a couple of days. So today she is headed there and I am going with another set of sisters (I get to pack again). I don't know how long we will keep this arrangement, but we will be covering three different areas. So we will have 3 cell phones (each sister has their own phone for the area they were serving in before we shuffled around), different three apartments (we will have to decide which one we want to stay in each night), and 2 cars that we can choose from. It is a crazy situation but until we get new sisters in a week it is going to be a little crazy and then the craziness will really start because I will start to train…AHHHHHH!!! Anyway, besides all that, this week has been really slow work wise. BUT we still have 2 baptismal dates set: Daniel, who is being baptized on the 12 of Dec and Jose who is being baptized on the 19 of Dec. Happy Happy Day!!!

I am excited to talk to you for Christmas when I find out when I can call I will let you know next week. Corinne and Jerome Congrats I am so excited for you when I read your e-mail I really screamed for excitement. Good luck and let me know when you find out what you are having. Kent and Jackie I didn't know you were moving here I will try and help but I don't know for sure. But that would be great if I saw you and the boys.

Ok well family I am sorry this is short. I love you all tons. Have a great week and I will talk to you later. Oh and mom I got your package I love you a ton thanks for everything.

Love

Nov. 30, 2009

Hello.....

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving....mine was really good. We had a member couple in the ward invite us over as well as the other missionaries serving in the ward for dinner. There ended up being 6 missionaries, plus them. It was really good, but not like home. They served us Ham, potato’s, spaghetti and garlic bread, and for dessert we had some kind of fruit salad. It was fun and the food was good but I would not put potatoes and spaghetti together. After dinner was finished we went home, but remember that I live with a member family (I love them they are super nice and really they make me feel so at home). Well anyway we got home and they said, good we waited for you… come eat with us. WHAT!!!! But we don't have room, come on waited for you... So I ate AGAIN!!! Only this time we had....Chicken, Potatoes, Spaghetti and bread. Once again really really good but I would not put those particular foods together. I will stress all the food was very good. Anyway we had a great Thanksgiving and I gave thanks for all that I was given. I have the best family in the world thanks for everything.

Yesterday we had a baptism. Juan Garcia was baptized and it was a wonderful day. This work really is amazing and the days are long and hard but it is all worth the work.

I can't believe Christmas is already here it is so fun to see all the lights and hear the Christmas music; it makes me remember what Christmas is really all about. I love it!!!!! Also that means I am that much closer to being able to talk to you all!!!

This week really was a little slow because my companion is a little sick and she has not been feeling well so we were in the house a lot, this week we are hoping to get out and about.

Oh more news. I don't mind driving it really is not that bad. It is just all the stress that if you do something bad or accidentally do something it could turn out bad for you (well, I am not sure but we will have to wait and see)..... The other day I was driving and we had pulled over into a parking lot because we needed to say a prayer for guidance on what to do. Well we had just said our prayer and we were pulling out to get back on the street and what I thought was the edge to go out on...was not the edge. We it the curb or one of those things in front of a parking space, I really am not sure how to explain it. We got out to make sure the car was ok and that all was good. At the time everything looked ok although it was dark so we could have missed something. We were like ok all is fine nothing is wrong with the car.......WRONG!!!!! The other day my companion gets out and says hey what is up with our tire? Well we look at it and low and behold yep the rim of the tire it bent, pretty well if I say so myself. I am a master at damaging things. We are guessing but we think that when we went off the curb the tire must have got caught on something and bent it. We called the senior Elder in charge of the cars, today and he said to go get an estimate. Well for a rim it is $199.90 yep so we are waiting to hear back about what to do. But that is my car story I am not sure if I will have to pay some of it because I was the driver… for now I am just waiting.

Ok well that is all my stories. Sorry this is nothing exciting. Thanks everyone for all your help and for all your love. I love you tons and tons. Love ya!

Nov. 23, 2009

Hola!

Let me just tell you that I am so grateful for the Lord, He is so great and I am so happy to be His daughter and that I can talk to Him anytime to get the help I am need. That said, this week has been a little... ok a lot... CRAZY!!!! But a good crazy at the same time.

First my companion Hermana Joslin DeMartini left for Argentina on Wednesday. I got a new companion Hermana Dina Gasca, we were together working both of our areas until Friday. On Friday we got a call from our President saying that he needed to have an emergency companion exchange for a couple of days because one of the other sisters was having a break down. The sister who was having problems is really good friends with Hermana Gasca, so Hermana Gasca was asked to move to that sisters area and the sisters companion to my area. So Friday night we switched...Hna Gasca went to Franklin (my old area) and Hermana Taft came here with me. Hermana Taft has been out for 10 months, and her Spanish needs improvement like mine. She was serving in Knoxville before, and then she was moved to her area when they closed the area in Knoxville to Spanish sisters because there were not that very many Spanish people. So after the emergency exchange I was here trying run both areas one of which I don’t know and the other that I was just getting use to. I was so lost and nervous at times but with the Lords help I did ok. It turns out that President has decided to keep the change of companions for the rest of the transfer, 3 more weeks. Hermana Taft and I were moved back to my old area and Hermana Gasca and her new companion will work both Franklin and Providence C. So I will just be working one area, Providence B with Hermana Taft, we are both working hard on our Spanish and are preparing to train come next transfer. I know crazy stuff; it is a good thing I didn't really unpack because I am moving again.

Ok so that is all the stressful stuff but amongst all of this. We (me and who ever my companion was at the time) set 4 BAPTISM DATES!!!!!! So while it was a crazy week it was super successful week as well. We have some great investigators who have decided to follow Jesus Christ and be baptized.

Johnny- His date is set for the 28th of this month. He is 8 years old. His parents want to get baptized too but Angel (the dad) needs to get a divorce first. He married someone only to get US papers. He also needs to get married to Maria (the mother of his three kids) who he is currently living with.

Amilcar- His date is set for the 28th of this month. He has been an investigator for a while and then one day after institute he said hey will you come over and teach me I want to get baptized!! Heck Yes!!!

Juan Garcia- His date is set for the 29th of this month. He is a great man in is 40s and is just accepting the gospel. I talked about him in my last email.

Daniel- His date is set for the 12th of December. He is amazing! He is accepting the gospel so fast and doing great. We were extending a baptismal date to his cousin, but his cousin told us he had already been baptized. Daniel spoke up and told his cousin that he may have been baptized but the LDS church is the only church that has the right authority to baptize!!!! Ding ding Ding we have a winner. WOW!! Thank you Daniel.

Jose- His date is set for the 24th of December. He is the Daniel’s cousin. After Daniel so nicely told him that we are the only ones with the authority Jose said he wanted to be baptized. When we asked him what day he would like to be baptized He said I want the 24th (Christmas Eve), What? He insisted and said that was the only day he wanted to do it. So we have a date for Christmas Eve.

Well that is all the baptism dates we have set so far. They are all so amazing. 3 of them are in my current area and two are in the other area but I will be able to go to the baptisms, so that is good. This work is AMAZING and TRUE!!!! Yes difficult and hard at times but all in all it is GREAT!

Today is a normal working day for us we have about an hour to write and check our emails. This week our p-day is on Thursday (Thanksgiving). We are going to eat dinner with some members. It should be great. I hope you all have a great Turkey day and know that I will be thinking of you all. I love you all tons. Have a great week full of tons of happy moments and smiles. Oh Thanks for all the letters, I have the best family and friends.

Love

P.S. Mom the name of my last baptism was Rodulfo but I can't remember his last name so I will write you on Thursday with that information. Just know that I am doing great and trusting the lord. I love you all tons. And good luck with everything.

Nov. 16, 2009

Hey,

Ok so, I will recap the week for you with all the major events....

1. We had Zone conference and Elder Arnold from the First Quorum of the Seventy came and talked to us. It was really good. He is amazing and taught us all tons of stuff that would really help us in our work here. The spirit was so strong and you could just tell that this was the work of the Lord. I learned tons of things that I need to do to improve myself as a missionary.

2. We had a BAPTISM!!!! Rudolfo was baptized and confirmed a member of the church this weekend (baptized on 14th and confirmed on 15th). He is so good and is excited about everything the gospel has for him. He is an amazing member. Rudolfo’s baptism is sister DeMartini's and my first and last baptism together.

3. Sunday We set a baptism date with Juan Garcia for the 29th of this month. Really he set his own date. We were teaching the plan of salvation and we made half way through and he said "I want to be baptized into your church what do I have to do" wow wow wow! We were like ok great we are here to teach you everything you need to know. So we finished a lesson with him and set the date. Yeah!!!! He is a man about in his 40's and will make a great addition to the ward and church.

4. Sister DeMartini and I have 2 days left together. She is leaving for Argentina on Wednesday. So today, our p-day, is a day full of packing.....again. I don't like packing! Anyway, she leaves Wednesday and I leave the same day to go work with another Sister whose companion is also leaving for Argentina. Sister Casca will be my new comp (she is from Mexico and super fun) I will still be in the same ward just not in the same area. However, I think that the president is going to have us work both areas because in December when we get new sisters he will split us up again and we will go back to our old areas. So that is good. I really like my area and I don't want to leave but you do what you got to do, right? I love the Lianares family they are so fun and help us a ton so I don't want to leave them but I will see them every Sunday.

5. Thank you everyone for all the letters and e-mails I love to hear how everyone is doing. I don’t know if I will have time to write a letter this week, sorry. These past 3 p-days have been very crazy and I don't have time to write because I am packing and trying to shuffle things around. So I am sorry about that. I do hope you know that I love you all very much.

Well I need to go, sorry this is super short but they time you on these computers and I don't have much time left. I love you all hope you are doing great and getting ready for Thanksgiving. It should be fun to see what I will be doing, on that day. As of now I don’t know.

Love you

Nov. 10, 2009

Family,

I am HERE and ALIVE!!!!! My area is great and everywhere you look there is a Hispanic. Tons of Spanish tons of people to teach and tons of people who want to here the gospel...some of them just don't know it yet. Ok well first I live in a little apartment that is attached to a house of a member family. The Leanarez are an amazing family. They have 3 kids and they are so strong in the gospel. We see them and eat with them everyday. He is the ward mission leader so he helps us out. His daughter came out on exchanges with us the other day; they are so willing to help us missionaries. Also we have new friends. Cockroaches! Tennessee has tons of them and our little house has tons of them too. But we have fun killing them and finding them. When we come in for the night and turn on the light they go running and we go chasing with out shoes. Ha ha ha, fun times.

The ward is really good. Sunday was good and yes mom I can understand a lot of what they say. Sometime it surprises me but I am getting the hang of it. I understand a lot more then I can speak so I am working on that part of it. My companion, Hna DeMartini,(she is from California and I knew her in the MTC and I also went to school with her sister Emily at BYU-I, I knew her really well) is great and helping me We are learning a lot from each other and she knows the area well so she is helping me find my way around. We had a full time car but now we have a part time car. We share with a set of English Elders in the area. So this week is a walking week because my companion does not have a bike and my bike needs to be fixed first before I can ride it. But Brother Leanarez said he would help me he is a mechanic and he also said there was someone in the ward who fixes bikes so I will get it figured out. But until then are driving/walking.

Let’s see, oh the area is great and we have some great investigators. We set a baptism date today with one of them. Rudolfo will be baptized this Saturday the 14. Yep we are hard at work and there are more dates to be coming. The work is going really well here in Tennessee.

Ok some funny stories. Hna DeMartini and my first day together went really well.....we got to the house unloaded my stuff and then left to go find a Fed-ex because my companion is leaving for Argentina in about a week or 2 and needed to send visa stuff, I will probably be moved to be with the other sisters who are in my ward too when she leaves. Anyway we went to find a Fed-ex and we borrowed a GPS because if you don't have one you get LOST!!!!! Well we got lost with the GPS and ended up going out of our area and then we ended up at the airport. Yep don't ask me how but we did it, all I know is that it was a fun adventure. We did eventually find our way and made it back home safe and sound. We just used up some of our miles and gas, oooops. But, all was well we even called our district leader and told him, so we could clam we were obedient. The Airport was beautiful but it was not my time to be there yet I am still needed here. Sorry mom I was close but you have to wait another year to see me. Ha ha ha ha!

Also this week we trackted into a family that had just moved here from Iraq, when we knocked they were about to sit down and eat lunch (at 4:00 pm), they said come in come in eat with us. At first, we said no and that we were fine, but then the husband said my wife is insisting (only the husband speaks English, along with 4 other languages), please come in and eat with us. So after awhile of them saying please we said ok. We all sat down on the floor and ate and talked (to the husband). The food was really good and we talked about who we were and the church and he told us about Muslims and what they believe. It was really fun and we learned a lot. At the end they brought out tea and we told them no thanks, and then explained the word of wisdom to them, so that was good. We planted a seed. After a while we said we needed to go, and left. It was really fun to talk and learn from them. They told us to come back anytime. Great people! This week we have Zone conference with a member of the 70 coming it should be a great experience I am excited so I will let you know how that goes.

Mom my address is:

451 Benita Dr

Nashville, TN 37211

But I don't know how much longer I will be there because my companion could be leaving at anytime for Argentina and then I will be moving again. So just be safe and send it to the office and they will get it to me. Oh and also I got my box. Thanks so much mom for everything you really are amazing. I love the sweaters they are so great. I hope I answered your questions. I am doing well and the Lord is helping me a tons and I am also learning tons about myself.

Good luck with getting the corn in and getting ready for winter. I love you tons. Thanks for all your prayers and the love you send. I will try and write a letter today. Love you all!

Nov. 2, 2009

Hello Everyone.....

Friday was interviews with the president...yeah I always love that time because we learn so much and get re energized to go our and do do do. President it amazing and really helps and wants to do everything possible to make sure you are ok and that things are good. Well my interview went like this:

Pres.- WELL, Sister Hegerhorst how long have you been in your area.

Me- About 3 months.

Pres- What does that mean?

Me- I get to stay!

Pres- Ummmm.....I was thinking about transferring you.

Me- Ok where to?

Pres- Nashville to be with Sister DeMartini.

Me- Wow...Wow....Wow

Then there was more but I won’t get into it. Pretty much I am leaving Franklin... I am going to Nashville (all Spanish ward) to be with Sister DeMartini, who is a visa waiter (waiting for Argentina) we are both new at the language and I am not going to lie I am scared! She has been here for one transfer and me for two. I am going to need a lot of help. Since she is a visa waiter that means I am senior. I don't really know how I feel about all of this. All I know is that I am going to in need of a lot of prayers. Sister Demartini is amazing she is so fun and has a lot of energy so I am excited about that. I actually went to school and lived next to her sister Emily at BYUI her sister is in Honduras on a mission right now. Small world.

Ok well that really is the big news. It is going to be sad to leave Franklin and say goodbye we have 4 baptism dates this month that I am going to miss but I guess that is how it goes. Our baptism date with Alfredo fell again. He started smoking again. We just can't seem to get him to have a strong enough desire. So right now we are just trying to figure out what to do with him.

Thanks for keeping care of Rudy- I miss him a lot... oh and mom I don't care how cute the little boy at school was you can NOT give him Rudy. Sorry ha ha ha I knew you wouldn't you love him just as much as I do.

Today P-Day is going to be a day of packing and getting ready for my big adventure tomorrow. I know the Lord knows what he is doing but I don't....If you don't get a letter this week it is because I didn't have time to write one with all the things I have to do today. Sorry this is short but we also have a teaching apt (on P-day yep) that we have to get to I want you to know that I love you tons.I will let you know more next week on how everything went. Please send all letters and packages to the mission home so that they will mail them to my new address because I don't know what it is yet. Have a great week!!!

Love

Oct 26, 2009

Hello everyone,

Well it was a great Saturday not only because Kameron and Eric both got married but as I said we would try and set a baptism date well WE DID we set 2 for the 14th of November. Also earlier in the week we set 2 so we have a total of 4 dates for the 14 of November.

Julieta and her daughter Sira, along with Gloria and her son Jose. Julieta also has another son who is 11 and we are going to try and set a date with him. Julieta and Gloria are sister-in laws. This Sunday the mothers could not go to church but we made sure the kids got there. They really liked it and so hopefully their excitement will rub off on the mothers. So Yeah for them! Alfredo, who has a date for this Saturday, has stopped smoking. WE had a really good lesson with him about the word of wisdom and how every time he was smoking it was a sin and he needed to stop. He has and is on track, BUT his wife is not helping us. He told his wife, who is in MEXICO, he was getting baptized and she is mad and doesn’t want him to. He doesn’t want to go against his wife, so right now we don't know what we are going to do. We are praying that she will come around.

The work is good and we are trying to find new areas to track. This week the elders told us about a tailor park that they found so we went to go check it out....Wow is all I have to say. It had about 10 trailers and a lot of them looked like the ones out in the desert by our barn. Well there were about 6 Spanish men outside by a fire and cutting up meat to cook and drinking beer. So we went to talk to them. They were not interested but we tried.

Let me tell you I don't think I have been asked... are you married, do you have a boyfriend, or do you want a Boyfriend, more then I have on that occasion. I just smiled and said I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints would you like to come to church. Great times great times. Don't worry mom I am safe and I wont be getting married.

Ok on to answering your questions… The singing group is over but they are doing a Christmas program and I am in that so I am still singing. We are still trying to teach English classes but not very many people come. We need to advertise it better. We are going to work on that. The only problem is, is there is a lot of places that teach English classes.

OH today I had the elders help me put my bike together because I wanted it together. Well it looks good except I can't ride it. The front tire does not work right. It does not spin straight so I am going to have to take it to a bike shop and have them look at it. Also it didn't even come with a kick stand. How rude! But don't worry I will get it figured out. I will hopefully use it during my mission. I want to! Hopefully someday… soon.

Mom as for my box… Transfers are on the 2 of November so keep that in mind as you get ready to send it. Also in my drawer in my room are my little no show socks (booty socks). I have a black, brown, tan, will you send those. I can wear them over my nylons and they will keep the feet a little warmer. Thanks!

Happy to hear the Chris is doing well we have people that run from us too. So he is not alone. Oh and I knew the package was from the girls so thanks. Tell George I say Hola and thanks for the birthday wishes. I Hope he and his family are doing well. Jesus and Angle as well tell them hi.

You said you wanted Christmas ideas....well music in Spanish would be great. Like the hymns or just church music in Spanish. I think it would help me a lot. I will try and think of other stuff. Ok well my time is coming to a close I hope everyone is doing great and that you have a great HALLOWEEN!!!! Dad good luck with the corn and getting everything ready for winter. The weather here is weird. It is freezing cold one day then warm the next but it is getting colder. Love you all and thanks for everything

Oct. 21, 2009

Hey fam,

Sorry this will be short but I don't have a lot of time. It is Wednesday but the Library was closed on Monday and Tuesday for some reason I am not really sure so we got to come check it today. But I don't have a lot of time to write. Things here are going well.

Some of the highlights of the week...

1. We had stake conference this week and two members of the seventy came (Gay and I can't remember the other one). It was really good and I got spiritually fed.

2. I have eaten (and liked might I add) Chicken Intestines. I know my companion didn't tell me until after, what exactly I had eaten but I liked it. Then she told me and I was like oh......but all is well.

3. We still have a Baptism date for the 31st. Alfredo is doing well and trying to stop smoking. We are helping him try all we know but to tell you the truth I have never had to stop smoking before (I know a big shocker to a lot of you but it is true)

4. We had Family Home Evening with a family where the dad served a mission but is anti now. The mother is a member and she and the kids come to church, but he won’t let any of his daughters get baptized. We went over and had Family Home Evening with them and it was fun but the Dad didn't come out except to eat. We are taking baby steps...

Ok I don't have enough time so I will have to write you next week. But I will try and remember more great stories. Thanks for all your mail. Mom I got the package. Thanks so much you are amazing. Tell the girls thanks too.

Love you tons!

Oct. 12, 2009

Hello my wonderful family,

First I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!!!!! (Feliz Cumpleaños a ti) I hope you know that I am thinking of you all day today!!!

Well where do I start.... my week was good I had a little bit of a hard week but I made it through and am ready to get to work again.

We are to the point in Franklin where we have knocked all the Spanish areas and so now were are having to find other areas to knock but they are mostly English so we knock and ask "Hello do you have any neighbors or friends that speak Spanish that we could share our message with. We get a lot of no, I have no idea, or yeah the next door over. We smile and say thanks and go to the next door to see if they know. Oh it is fun fun work :)

Also this week my companion was having a hard time. She was not feeling good but then she just closed off. I was not able to talk to her and she wouldn't talk to me... and let me tell you when you don't have anyone to talk to and you can't ask questions and you don't know what you are saying in lessons or if you are saying it right it is a little hard. And you feel a little alone. But no worries my companion is back to being funny, really helpful, and amazing. She just had couple of down days. But I really do love her she really does help me a ton. I hope this week will go better for us.

We tracked into a lady (Gloria) and her son (Jose Leonardo age 11) and we found out that she just had a miscarriage so we decided to teach her the 2nd. The spirit was so strong and the little boy was asking all kinds of questions. It was great It is so good to know that Heavenly Father has given us a PERFECT plan. They said they would come to church but they didn't make it....next week.WE also have Alfredo...he has a date for the end of this month. He is doing great. He pretty much told us that he believes everything he just has to talk to his wife in Mexico. He is scared to do that.....but he has to. Oh and he has to quite smoking. But no worries we will get him to stop.

Our other date Nita....well where do I begin? She will not answer her phone, she won’t answer the door, and she won’t talk to us. So we are playing the came called Find Nita...it is a hard game if anyone knows where to find the rule book on how to win please let me know. So as of right now I don't know much about her. But church was great, next week we have stake conference so that should be great!!!!

I am happy to hear that everyone is doing well and getting better over being sick (Katie). Thanks so much for you letters and e-mails. Keep up the missionary work Stewart and Becky you are doing great. Ok everyone you ready for homework time. Yep this week everyone needs to think of someone who needs the gospel in their lives and give the referral to the missionaries. We NEED REFERRALS!!!!! and the best place to find them is from the ward members. So think think think and tell the missionaries. I will be asking next week how the homework went.

Well I love you all....mom Aunt Bonnie sent me a wedding invitation for Kameron so don't send one. Congrats to Christina and Brian on the new baby. I hope you all have a great week; know that I love you tons and think of you often.

Love

Oct. 5 2009

Hola!!!

Well first I want to start my letter of with big THANKS!!!!! Thanks to everyone for making my birthday so very special. Mom I got the box a couple days before one of the senior missionaries was coming to Franklin so he brought it on Tuesday. So I opened it and got my blankets (I love my blankets) and waited for Friday to open the rest. Friday came around (my Birthday) and I got mail from Becky and Stewart, Grandma and another package from Margie. Thank you all everything was just what I needed and I thank you all so very much. I love you all. (Most of all Margie thanks for the tape recorder-I think the best gift was being able to listen to the tape you all sent a while ago, and hear all your stories and all your advice and all your voices. So thanks… Oh and Dad thanks for the song I loved it!!!!)

It was a great day we had interviews with President and then found NEW investigators. Oh and one of our investigators that we are teaching named David, he is so smart can quote the scriptures like a pro but he doesn't want to be baptized because he knows the commitments that come with it sad. We are going to try a couple of different things and see if we can change his mind. Any way he found out it was my birthday and we were planning on teaching him on Friday so he said he would bring lunch. So he brought a huge pizza I mean huge and then he also brought 4 different pieces of cake (HUGE pieces of Cake) and a little sign that said happy birthday and candles. It was fun and very nice and our lesson went good with him as well. All in all my birthday was GREAT!!!!

Anyway back to the work of Franklin.....We have two baptisms for this month set and we are going to try and get another one set. We as a companionship have a goal of 3 for the month.

Nita- we contacted into her she is great and really wants to learn and likes the Book of Mormon. She has a date for the 31 of October (what better day then HALLOWEEN) also she has an 8 year old daughter Fernanda and we are going to see if she wants to be baptized too. The only problem is we have to get them to church. This week it will happen. They are going to come and fall in love with it.

Alfredo- He is an investigator that had a date before but then dropped it. But he came to conference last night and after it we taught him about the word of wisdom and a little more about baptism and extended a date. He accepted for the 31 of October. His only concern is his wife in Mexico. He doesn’t think she will like it and if she says no then he wont. But he told us he wants to. He has been to church a ton and loves to read the Book of Mormon and the Sunday school manual. So we are praying that his wife will say ok.

All of our new converts are doing great. They are on fire!!!! Yesterday at conference most of them came and we watched it and ate together as a group and then played games with the kids and then watched the other half. They all seemed to really like it. It was a good experience.

Was not conference amazing!!! I say that as an understatement because there are not words to explain it. We watched Saturday morning session at a members house because they were redoing the carpet in the chapel and didn't have it set up (so we missed the first 1/2 hour but it was good. Then we watched the afternoon in the church. Sunday we watched it in the church with our members and investigators. The morning session I watched in Spanish because there was only one member (Edgar) and I could not leave him and Sister Munoz alone. (I understood some but not all) Then Saturday afternoon I watched in English. It was just really good and what I needed.

Mom and Dad I would just like to say I LOVE YOU! I listened to Elder Bednar and wanted to make sure I got that in. I really do and thanks for everything you do for me. Well this week should go well we have a lot of work to do to meet our goals but we can do it. Thank you all for everything have a great week full of a lot of SMILES!!!!!

Con Amor

P.S. Katie Wilson, and Lauren Stange if you read this will you please send me your new address so that I can write you. Thanks I hope you are doing well. Love ya both and hope school is good and classes are not too hard.

Sept. 28, 2009

Hola,

Well where do I begin.....This week has been full of adventurers. First Hermana Ethington left for a new area so it is just Hna Munoz and I. We should be getting a new companion (visa waiter) this week on Tuesday or Wednesday. Also this week it think it was Wednesday we were walking out of an appointment and it was dark and raining and Hna Munoz says "oh no" I was like what??? Well it turns out that her contact had fallen out of her eye so we looked and looked for it with a little flashlight that I had. Then the investigators came out and helped us look but we couldn't find it. Well it turns out that that was her last pair and she has hard contacts so she was going to have to order new ones. So until she gets them she can't really see very well so I have/get to drive. So anyway until she gets her new contacts in about a week or two we hope. I am driving. Wish me luck. so far I have done OK with the help of a GPS (that is Hna Munoz) and I have only almost killed us 1(just kidding). Anyway....

OK so remember when I said that they had that group that they wanted me to sing in for the mission. Well they asked me to sing this week with them (in English-so that was good because I was not ready for Spanish yet) So on Friday we had to go up to Kentucky and sing. It was fun and I did ok, I only messed up a little. But I can now say I have been to KENTUCKY!!!! Then we sang again last night on Sunday (in Brentwood Tennessee). It was good also but once again I messed up but oh well what can you do? They said you couldn't recognize that I messed up. So that is good.

Also was not the RS broadcast wonderful? It was really good and just what I needed to hear I am really excited to get to listen to conference this weekend I think I really need it. I need to hear the counsel to that I can get re energized and work a little harder.

Ok so on to some really good news we had a BAPTISM!!!!!! Jose Luis was baptized on Saturday the 26 of September...it was a small baptism because he is really shy and didn't want anyone there so it was just us missionaries and someone to baptism him and 2 witnesses. But it was a beautiful baptism. Then on Sunday he and Elda were confirmed and given the Holy Ghost and Luis got the priesthood. YEAH!!!!! It was a great day!!!

We are now back to the finding because all our teaching pool is either dropped us or they have become members. So it is back to knocking doors but the hard thing with that is that we have already knocked all the doors and tailor parks that are Spanish so we are going to have to start over knocking the same doors. So pray that we can find new investigators that want to hear the gospel and want to be baptized or people that have had a change of heart and will let us in this time.I don't know if there is really a ton more to tell you all. A lot of the missionaries have been getting sick but so far I am still healthy to I hope it stays that way. But some kind of flue has been going around so I will try and stay away from it. Well I think I have run out of things to say.... Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes I will have a great one. I found out I have President Interviews that day at 7:30 am. Thanks so much have a great week and I shall talk to you all later. I love you all so much I am blessed with the best family in the world.

Con Amor

Sept. 21, 2009

Hello Everyone,so first i would like to tell you a sad story I was writing you this letter and I was almost done telling you all my news and this it all got erased because well i don't know why but it did. So if this letter is short it is because i don't have any more time to tell you everything i had in there before. :(

Anyway Transfers......well I am STAYING in Franklin :) however my companion Hna Ethington is leaving so it will just be Hna Munoz and I but then next week we are getting a sister from the MTC (she is waiting for a visa so they are sending her here to work) so i guess you could say I am TRAINING with sister Munoz, but Hna Munoz will be training both of us on Spanish :) Wow scary stuff.

We had a baptism yesterday for Elda, she is amazing and will be a great addition to the ward. I have seen 3 baptisms since I have been here: Conception (Conchi) Cruz, Maria Herrera, and Elda Chi. We also have a another person being baptized next weekend. Wow!!!

Well let’s see what else. Oh this week was a little slow because my companions were both sick for two days so we stayed in and I studied Spanish for two days straight. I don't know if it helped but I am trying. We taught a really good lesson this week to a guy named Julian he was confused and didn't know if this was the true church so we all keeled down and he offered a prayer and asked and the spirit was so strong he started to cry during the prayer. So we extended a baptism date and he says no I don't think it is right, I don't think I am ready. WE were like WHAT!!!!! You just got your answer. We were a little sad but one day he will get baptized we are just going to have to be patient.

Mom go ahead and send my box to my apt in Franklin I am staying here so just send it straight to me and I don't think I need anything else in there except my camera charger. Thanks sorry that I keep asking for things but just know that I love you.

Sorry this is not the best letter but you read my sad story at the beginning.I hope you all have a great week full of smiles. Tell the Mills family congrats for me. Love you all!!!

Sonrisa Siempre :)

Sept. 14, 2009

Hey Everyone,

Isn't it funny how usually on Monday everyone is like oh no a new week has begun (I have to go to school and to work) and I love Monday because I get to talk to you and I get to buy food and I get to do my laundry!!!!! Mondays are GREAT!!!! Anyway onto the week. I really don't have a ton to tell you (but of course I say that and my e-mails are always really really long so we will see)

Mom to answer your questions in my box there is one thing. I brought batteries for my camera but they run out to fast so in my white tub in my room there should be my camera charger (little gray stand and the cords and the rechargeable batteries.) If you could just send that it is all in one bag I believe. Ask Margie she should know what I am talking about. Also maybe you should send it to the office because transfers are next week and though I don't think I will be transferred but there is always the possibility, so send it to the office. Or you know what you could wait tell next week and then I should know if I am getting transferred and then I can tell you where to send it. I won’t need the stuff until then so you can do that. But if you want it out of the house so you can clear out space then send it one out to the office. :) Oh and the winter cloths. You can wait a little and send it out later it is not very cold here yet and I should not need them for a little bit. Thanks mom you are the best. As for the pumpkin I have NO IDEA so I will say 35in. The other Spanish sisters are not too far they are about on hour away from us closer to Nashville then we are. I am happy that you and dad had a great anniversary and that you did something different. Good job.

Wow Eric is getting married. Crazy!!!! Wish him luck for me and Kameron as well. Margie I hope you had a great time singing and that you enjoyed the talk. I bet you did wonderful. Mom did you see her???? Thanks for telling me about Clyde I bet he was happy to go.

Well this week we had 5 baptism dates but two of them have fallen through one because he is 11, Richard, and his dad is hard core catholic and wont give permission. But he can go to church just not get baptized. So one day but just not right now. But his mom Elda is getting baptized on Saturday. Also Alfredo he was doing so great and reading and progressing and he had a baptism date for this Saturday but then he just dropped off the face of the earth. We would call him and no answer we would knock on his door and he would not be home. So then yesterday we finally found him and said "What’s up with you" (ok not really like that) but anyway he just told us that it was going way to fast for him and that he wasn't sure so we said fine. We will slow it down but at least you could do is tell us. He told us sorry so all is good we are just slowing things way down for him. Anyway that is all the great news from the week. Oh Hermana Ethington and I have been asked to sing in Spanish for the RS broadcast thing that they are doing here wish me luck again. I love you all I hope you all have a great week. Thanks for all your prayers and support. I hope Sister Buse and Sister Rice are doing better. I am thinking of them. Let them know. Oh one more thing I have a joke......"If you're not LDS you belong to a not-prophet organization" ha ha ha I read it and thought it was funny, anyway love you tons have a great week full of smiles.

Sept. 9, 2009

Hey everyone,

So this is going to be short because I don't have a ton of time. I couldn't write on Monday because it was Labor Day and the Library was closed then on Tuesday we had Zone conference. So they are giving us a little time today but I don't have much. Thanks for all your letters.Zone conference was great it was just what I needed to hear to get re energized and get back to work with more strength :)Let me answer a few of your questions. I got Rudy in 2000 so he is about 9 years old.

Sisters I have the game and I will send it home. Oh and I WON!!!!!!!! :) Margie good luck with singing you will do great!!!! Oh and about the cell phones I think I wrote down all my numbers so you can erase them. But if you want to write them down just to make sure go for it. Also I think the texting thing is because of the number so maybe try and change your phone number. Because ever since we switched our number over from AT&T we don't get them. So try changing the phone number. I don't know.

Oh and here they can't say my name so some call me Horsy (usually just the little kids....but some adults), others call me Heg and other call me for fun Caballo (horse in Spanish) it is fun to hear them try some get it pretty good but they can't remember it and others just make a joke out of it, ha ha ha, you got to love our name I know I do.Sorry to hear about all the accidents in the ward tell them I am praying for them.

Becky I am sorry for the rain but I can't tell the Lord what to do. You can try but I don't think it will work. Oh and I am happy to hear that you are having fun with your volunteer work. Good job Stewart on your test. I knew Becky married a smart one. Katie I am happy that Rupert and you are doing well. You are the best love you tons.Dad good job with scouts you are Amazing.Mom thanks for the ideas for Christmas and I hope I win the pumpkin game I pick #2.

Sorry not much time but I love you all tons I will write more on Monday.Oh one more thing so there are only 5 Spanish sisters here and one leaves in November and both my companions leave in December and then we are getting 4 new sisters in December. Do you know what that means? yep..... I will be training in DECEMBER!!!!! I need PRAYERS and lots of them. I got a letter from president today and he just said work hard and learn all you can because I will need your help in December. I think I almost had a heart attack. I need to learn so much but I still have 3 months and I have the Lord on my side so all will be well. But keep the prayers coming as I know you are. My Spanish will come. Oh and other news we have 5 baptism dates for this month already. No time got to go get back to work. Love you all so much!

Mom and Dad happy anniversary!!!!!!!!! You are amazing parents

Aug 31, 2009

Hola

Well lets see where to start!!!! Ok first we didn't have a baptism this week. Elda (the person getting baptized) decided that she wanted more time. She is really knowledgeable about the church and the bible. She is reading and studying the BOM and she does her study journal that we gave her but she just feels that she needs more time. Also her Husband is hard core catholic and she needs to ask him before she can get baptized. So we are waiting for her. We are going to try and set another date with her this week so that she will be working for something.

But yesterday we did get another date set for the 19 of September. He is a guy that my companion knows/taught from her last area that is now in our area and he agreed to get baptized on the 19, YEAH!!!!!!! We also have some investigators that have been coming to church and they seem really interested so we are going to see if we can set a date with them in the near future. This work really is amazing. Yesterday was church and it was great. A lot of what was talked about was things that I needed. Also there was a talk about families, and how important eternal families are and that we all do our part to be able to live with them forever. I LOVE MY FAMILY!!!! Thanks everyone. I am so blessed to know that I am going to be able to live with you all FOREVER!!!!! Sorry if at times I was not the best but I am going to try really hard to do my best so that I can be with you all forever. This gospel is amazing, and Heavenly Fathers plan is Perfect (but you probably already knew that.

Anyway, oh we had interviews with the President this week. My first interview, it was good nothing to big oh but mom I asked about the letter and the picture and he said that he sent them out but that if you didn't get it to let me know so that I can let him know. So let me know mom if you got it.

I am trying to think of more exciting things that have been happening. We are trying to talk to everyone. My companions are having me do everything so that I can learn so when we are walking down the street they say oh there is a Spanish person, go talk to them. I get nervous but then have to tell myself. "Go...Go do it, get out of your comfort zone...this is for the LORD." so I do. This one time I pretty much chased after this lady walking down the street so that I could talk to her. But it worked we got a return appointment with her! Afterwards my companions said that was awesome. It was scary that was what it was. But it is getting easier and easier every time. Also every time we go up to a door. My companions say who’s turn? It is always my turn so I just say "Me Toca" (my turn) then we laugh and I practice my Spanish, Great times.

There are some pretty rude Spanish people but most of them are really nice and let us set up an appointment or teach them right then. However sometimes they just set up a time for us to come back and they make it for a time that they won’t be home. Now that is RUDE because it wastes our time but oh well we are trying. At least when we die and go to heaven we can say hey we went back to teach them but they didn't show, we at least did our part.

I don't know if there is much else that I can say. It was a great week and a fast one but right now we are just trying to find new investigators. Uncle Dan thanks for the advice I will talk to my companions and see if we can put it into work. Happy to hear you are doing great. Good luck with your English classes. We (as companions) teach English classes here too. But right now we only have on student.

Oh Dad we had a district meeting this week and so I saw some other elders from different districts. Well anyway I saw an Elder Beck. He said oh Sister Hegerhorst my mom told me to watch for you, I guess our dads are really good Friends from Alpine. I said oh Beck that sounds familiar. However I am not sure if I really know. So please tell me who his Dad is and then next week I will tell you if I was right on who I thought he was. I don't want to say it and make a complete fool of myself by being totally wrong. Ha Ha!

Anyway this is long enough, we are going to go to Wal*Mart today so I will try and print some pictures off and send them home. I love you all tons have a great week, and I will try and cook up some good stories for you next week.Oh and just remember that I love you and that this is the true church. When you are having a hard day just think of that. And remember to Sonrisa Siempre! And I will do the same. I am trying to practice my smile it helps to get us into doors.

August 24, 2009

Hello Everyone,
*
Ok so I have a ton to fill you in on so I will just get down to it.....First we had two baptisms this week :) Maria and Conchi were baptized and we had a man (Edgar) who was baptized 3 weeks ago baptize them. So it was really special because it was the first time that he got to use his priesthood and the other two became members of the Church!! It was a really special day and the spirit was so strong. Also we thought that it would be nice to have a musical number so sister Ethington said oh Hna Hegerhorst and I can sing. So I said ok so we sang I know that my Redeemer lives, in Spanish. It went really good and we got a lot of compliments. So that was Saturday and then on Sunday we are on our way to church and the bishop calls and says oh I loved your song so much yesterday I want you to sing in sacrament meeting. *smile* Wow ok so at the last moment we sang in sacrament meeting as well. What a weekend. It was good but as always I get nervous and shake but we got a lot of compliments, the spirit really helped. Anyway the baptisms were great. We are hoping to have another on this weekend for Elda. We have a date set (29th of Aug) but she was a little shaky with it so we are going to make it stronger this weekend.
*
Oh on the subject of singing. This is Nashville right so it is the town of singing right? RIGHT!!! We the mission does this thing called Song of the Savior. They do performances for wards and they are supposed to bring their less actives and friends. Well they have 6 missionaries do it and they do it in English and Spanish. I am not really sure on the details. I just know that when I first got here they had us fill out a paper that said our musical ability and I put I only sing in the shower (ok not really but I put that I had no musical training I just do it for fun) Well they need Spanish and since there is only 5 of us and I am one of the ones that has an ok voice (my companions tested it she said ok sing this and wow your voice it good). So in other words Yep I get to do it because they don't have any other options *smile* I don't know what they are thinking. It is a choir of six, three Elders and three Sisters. So I have to learn all the songs in Spanish and English and there is talking parts in between describing Christ and the Church that I have to learn those parts to (but it should help me with my Spanish, I hope). PRAY FOR ME!!! I guess I came to Nashville to work on my voice as well as share the gospel.
*
Oh and also because it is Nashville there are famous people right? RIGHT!!! Well I haven’t really met a ton I only met Jason Deere who writes a lot of songs for a tons of big country singers and he wrote A Nashville Tribute. We had a concert last night for our ward and for investigators. I got a picture with him so I will send it home. He is super nice.
*
I got my PACKAGE!!!!! Thanks it was super nice of you. I loved it mom. You and Margie have some pretty good ideas. My companions hate me because I get like a letter every other day and like two packages. They said they want to kick me out. Ha Ha Ha They said I hate Greenies because they get tons of mail. Keep them coming I love mail. Please don't stop even when I only have a month left. Mail is IMPORTANT!!! They were ok when I gave them muddy buddies. Oh but I don't have anything to listen to the tape with so I will look at Good Will here and see if I can find one. But thanks a million!
*
My Spanish is coming. It is really slow but it is coming. I asked my companions to only speak Spanish to me and they correct me a ton so that is helping. We found a new investigator this week Jose Louis he is 18 and we met him on Friday taught him a first he came to the baptism on Saturday, Church on Sunday and then the Jason Deere concert so he seems really interested. We will see where that leads us.
*
Mom as for blankets. My dog one and my little blue on that looks like a comforter I think it is on my bed. It is a feather one, just those two for now I think. Also I think I will want both coats so send them both. Thanks! I have the best family. Oh and I took a picture with my president and his wife and so they said they would send them out. Hello from Tennessee!!!!!!
*
Ok so I have a ton to tell you but I have not enough time. So here we go. First off I am I am in an area called Winstead Hill and I have to great Companions Hermana Ethington from Arizona and Hermana Munoz from Mexico. They are both great and help me so much with learning. They are great teachers. My apartment is actually really big and has two full walls of just mirrors. So I wake up and go to the living room and see myself or I walk in the door from a long HOT day of work and I see how gross I look :) but it is a cute little apt. We are really close to the temple our church building is right next to it so I get to see it every Sunday. We are in an English ward and we just have to translate for the Spanish so one of us missionaries translate for them and the other two of us sit with them. It was a fun first Sunday, but crazy all at the same time.
*
Oh Katie as we have been out knocking doors I see fire flies and I think of you all the time. I was going to get a picture of one because I was holding it but then it flew away, Sad day. Oh and the CD you gave me of A tribute to Nashville by Jason Deere. We he is in our ward so yesterday I met him and told him that I liked his CD and my sister gave it to me when I found out I was going to Nashville. Also we have a concert by him this coming Sunday for all the ward members and investigators. So we will be going to that this week with our investigators. Cool huh :) I am already seeing famous people.
*
My area is not city city but it is like Mt. Home I would say, or at least the parts I have seen. We are mostly in trailer park areas because that is where the Spanish are. WE were tracting last night and we were just walking down the street going back to our car and this drunk man came out and started talking to us and shook our hands but he wouldn't let go so I had to pull my had from his. GROSS!!! I don't like drunk people.
Oh before I forget by direct address is:
*
514 N. Petway Street, #301
Franklin TN 37064
*
So you can write me there and it will come directly to me. Oh I am in a Full car area so I don't get to use my bike so it is just sitting on our balcony not put together yet but it is out of the box because another elder wanted it so he could send his home. Ha Ha Ha Don't worry I will use it sometime.
Ok so my mission has a goal to get 100 baptisms this month. Yep and we are going to do it. We already have about 21 with 71 or so dates set so we are well on our way. WE as a companionship have 3 baptisms for this Saturday and a date for the 23, (Margie's b-day) Great and we have about 4 other families that we are starting to teach. Pray for us to meet our goal. We can do it. Si Se Puede!!!!
*
Maria-is getting baptized this Saturday she has a cute little family. Her husband is already a member but he didn't remember that he was. But he is not active and doesn’t want to give up playing soccer on Sunday so we are working on that.Conchi and her daughter Fernanda will get baptized this Saturday as well they are a cute family she fed us this Sunday and wow so much food I don’t know how I am going to eat so much.
*
Elda has a date for the 23 her husband is Hard core Catholic but she said she loved church and her two sons did as well. She told us that her kids have not liked any of the other churches they have gone to but that they liked this one. So that is a good sign.
*
Ok so I am out of time. I know I have probably not told you everything but I have to go. Oh mom the next time you sent a box I need my blankets my little blue one and my dog one because I don't have a blanket. I love you all tons and tons and tons have a great week. I am doing well and moving along with the work. I need tons of help with Spanish. I usually understand everything I just can't talk back to them.
*
Oh Margie you said you saw Karen Ward. Yes I remember her and Yes Adam Ward (great missionary) was in my district. I just forgot to tell you so sorry.

Love you all

Sister Groesbeck and Sister Hegerhorst- 4th of July

Margie and Sister Emily Hegerhorst

Margie got to go and see Emily for 45 mins while Emily was in the MTC because Emily left on her mission 13 days before Margie came home off her mission (she served in Chile). They totally look alike in this picture, you can see why a lot of people mistake them for twins... they are two years apart... Margie is older

Getting ready to leave in the morning... not going to make it

YEAH!!! I did it ~Smile~

August 7, 2009

Hello!!!!!
*
Well this is my last e-mail from the MTC. Today has been crazy!!! We went to the temple this morning it was amazing. My whole district went one last time together in a session. Now we are doing laundry and trying to pack but we have no time. My room is a mess with everything out and I am racking my head thinking how in the world did I get everything in before. Also I have to stay under the weight limit because Delta charges $50 - $100 for over weight luggage and I don't have that. Anyway.
*
My day is Great.Lets see my last week went well and fast. We had a day called "Mission field day" it is where we spent the whole day just teaching and setting up appointments and contacting like you would out in the mission field. It was really fun and I learned a lot about what I need to improve on and what kind of things would help the lessons better. It was a great experience. Oh also I had to get my 2nd Hep A shot so I used my Debit mom but I have a paper that they said to send home to you so just fill it out and insurance will cover it. But just letting you know that I paid for it out of my checking. Thanks!
*
Also I got a letter from the Spanish sisters in Nashville this week... I had to pay 20 cents for it because they didn't put enough postage...ha ha ha it was funny I had to pay for my own mail. But it was worth it because the letter was so nice and they sent a picture as well. They just said we are so excited to meet you. You are going to love the Spanish people here. There are only 4 of them so I will just add to the group I think. I don't really know I will let you know more when I know more.
*
Family I will call you in the morning so be home or you will miss my beautiful voice and I know you want to hear me....or I hope you do because I want to hear you. Becky I will be calling you during my layover I was already planning on it so just keep your phone by you. Oh and I will try and send pics but I can't from these computers. I sent some to mom so maybe they can scan them and send them to you by e-mail....you never know. Oh Aunt Patsy thanks so much for the e-mail with the pics it was great to hear from you. Love ya tons Hello Uncle Larry love you too.
*

Mom Gneiting thanks for thinking of me and sending your letter. can I just tell you that I LOVE your daughter (Mindy). She is amazing and I will miss seeing her everyday at the MTC. July 31, 2009

Hola mi Amigos,

Como estan esta bonita dia? I am doing well. I just got back from the temple and finished my personal and companion study and decided that I would write you and tell you all about my week. It has been a good one. Nothing to big has happened but everyday is a good one so anyway. Well let’s see…. Oh every week we have a teaching appointment where we go and practice teaching and speaking in Spanish. It is fun and a good experience but sometimes a little scary but don’t worry I survive every time. This week and the last 2 weeks we, my companion and I, have taught our teachers family. They are visiting from Mexico so they come and help us. However they don’t speak English so it makes us try really hard because we can’t ask them, “How do you say?” J So the first time when we were teaching them the mother was saying something and we couldn’t figure out one word and we knew it was a important word so we asked her to repeat It and try and explain it so we could figure it out in English but we just couldn’t figure it out. Oh and let me tell you that the rest of our district was watching us and evaluating us. So finally one of the elders came to the door and said “Jehovah”…..Oh it was funny when we finally figured it out. But the rest of the lessons went well. Then just this last week his aunt came as well and we were teaching her and she was so nice and we got through the lesson and just talked and then we came back to class and I said something to my teacher and he said that his Aunt has been inactive for 18 years. Wow I said good thing I didn’t know that before I started teaching or I would have been really nervous. Anyway just a funny story for you.

But everything is going well and the time here at the MTC is coming to an end I only have one more full week here and then it is off to Tennessee for me. I got my FLIGHT PLANS yesterday. I leave the MTC at 6:00 in the morning on Monday August 10th I have 10 other people flying with me as well so I am not alone. I met some of the other sisters going there and they are all English but really fun so it should be fun. Also t I fly out of the SLC airport at around 9:45 and I go to Minneapolis Minnesota, and I have a 3 hour lay over. Then I fly from Minnesota to Nashville and I get there at 5:30 there time so 3:30 our time. Do you know what this means…... I get to CALL YOU!!!! So I you would you rather me call you in the morning at SLC or do you want me to wait until I get to Minnesota. I don’t really care if it would work better for dad in the morning then lets do that so he can get out and working. But if he want a reason to have to come in and get out of the heat then I can call later. Just let me know. But make sure you are by the phone or you are all in big trouble.

I can hardly believe that my time here is ending it has gone by so fast. I hope that I can get everything packed again to fit. I am never really good at that and I hope that I don’t go over weight because Delta charges big bucks for overweight bags. So wish me luckJ. I love you all so much. Katie thank you for the letters from Rudy and Rupert they were cute and I loved it. However my district thought I was crazy but what else it new. I wish you all a great week good luck with everything. Mom good luck cleaning grandma’s house out. Have fun with the family and tell them all I say hello and send my love. Tell Uncle Randy that I am thinking of him and praying that things go well. Tell him that I love him. Oh and Hello Grandma hope you are doing well and that you know that I think of you always.

Talk to you all next week.

Con Amor
