Jan. 19, 2010

Hey Fam,
So yesterday was Martin Luther King Day so we didn't get to e-mail. But I wrote you a letter so it is coming your way mom and dad. This week has been good, and busy. There are a lot of things that I want to tell you but I don't have time because we have an apt. at 12:00 and I had to wait an hour for a computer :(

We had some great experiences this week. We are working with a lot of families but they are just saying that they want more time. So we are going slowly with them but it is crazy. I know they are ready and the lord knows they are ready they just have to learn it for them selves.

This week we had interviews with president and we were on our way there. We were riding with a member so we could save miles. Well we all got in the car said a prayer for safety like we always do and were off on our way. We were driving on the freeway and this car cuts us off so she swerves so miss him but then there was another car moving over from the other lane so we were between two cars she slammed on her brakes did a little more swerving and we made it out. It was so crazy but it was because we had the Lord’s help that nothing happened. It was a day of miracles. We had our interviews and all was great.

We had 2 investigators at church this Sunday we are working with a less active family to get there son baptized so they were at church. We will have to see how that goes. But really all is going well. Once again I am sorry this is short but I don't have time. Mission Life is great I love it. Tennessee it Beautiful and the people here are amazing. Love ya all

Letter sent to Mom and Dad (as stated above)

Dear Mom and Dad,

It has been a little crazy but I found time to write today. We couldn’t e-mail today because it is Martin Luther King Day so here is your letter. I am doing great and the work here is going good but a little slow. We have about 5 families that we are working with and trying to get ready for baptism. A lot of them could be ready but they are just not sure so we are taking it slow with them. I can hardly believe how fast the time goes. It has almost been 1 transfer since I got my two companions. We have had so much fun and success and have grown together so much. I am hoping we get one more transfer together. We will find out Saturday (Jan. 23) because next Tuesday is transfers so we will see. I love my companions and it feels like I have known them forever and we work so well together and help each other grow. Great Times!!!!

We have one couple Cecilia and Felix that we are working with for baptism. They are Great and a super family. Well, today we needed to go to Wal - Mart to get some things for this week. We usually take a Spanish Book of Mormon with us into the store, but today we decided to take an English book in stead. We got to Wal-Mart and went to print some pictures off, while we were doing that we saw a lady who works there, I had seen before and she was always so sweet to us and very helpful. My companions and I decided that she was the person we needed to give our Book of Mormon away to. So one of my companions got her attention and held up the book. When she came over to us, we asked her if she had seen the book before and the lady said yes. I asked her if she had read it and she said no. We than asked her if she would like to. With tears in her eyes she said, are you going to give me that book. She then told us how she had prayed that morning for help and that we were the answer to her prayers. She took the book and held it close and said I have been looking for a good book to read. I will read this thank you so much. We all bore our testimonies to her and took her name and number. We all left with tears in our eyes, she was so touched and very emotional. It was such an amazing experience. The Lord has people prepared for us to find and teach. Miracles happen every day!

We have two other families’ we are teaching but they are slow and wanting more time. One of the ladies we have been teaching ahs all of a sudden started to ignore us, at first we didn't know why. She is not married to the man she lives with, but together they have four children together. We saw her “husband” and asked him if he knew what was wrong. I guess she thinks her boyfriend has a crush on my companion. We have tried to tell her we were not interested in anything but preaching the gospel, but she is worried. I guess we will have to figure that out how we can fix our problem before we can move on.

I am doing great and my companions are doing great also. We are all doing the Lords work and working together so well. It is amazing. Yeah!!! I am being taken care of so all is well. I love this work and the people here in Tennessee. Tell everyone in the ward I say hello and thank them for all their letters. I wish I could answer them all but my time is busy doing the Lords work. I love you all and think of you all so much. Have a great week and know that I love you all.
Love Hermana Hegerhorst (Emmy)

Jan. 11, 2010

Hola!!!!!!

Well first off I will just let you know that it is cold here. We have had kind of a slow week because it has been snowing for 3 days and so they cancelled school but it really didn't do anything. It was not even an inch of snow but it was enough for these crazy crazy drivers that they closed schools and we as missionaries were not allowed to drive. So we got to walk to all our appt. in the snow and wind and freezing temp. It was cold but we made it out alive and all the ice has gone and the snow so we can DRIVE!!!! :) So we were limited on who we could see because everything was too far to walk to so we did what we could called and talked to those we couldn't and all worked out.

We worked so hard and told the lord that we would do everything we could and we just wanted to get at least 3 investigators at church. Well This Sunday (yesterday) we got 6 yep we got 6 investigators at church. It was so good. IT was so amazing to see the benefits of your hard work. They all loved church and I hope will be coming back next week. We found a little family. They were actually a reference from an inactive member. Her name is Alycia and she has a 12 year old daughter America and then a 6 year old Michelle and a 4 Year old Chris. They all came to church and loved it. Also we have couple and they are doing amazing and then two other people. WE are hoping to set some baptism dates soon but we will see.

So the week was slow but it paid off in the end. We are ready for another week of fun and COLD weather and everything.I am happy that you all are doing well, I am grateful for your love and support. I couldn't do this without you. I am so very grateful for my Heavenly Father and the love I see from him everyday. I have been so very blessed and I can see it in my family and in my life everyday.Dad I am happy that you are doing well and that you are getting better. Know that you are in my prayers all the time. Have a great week.

Love

Jan. 4, 2010

Hello everyone,

Wow what a week....It was a great week full of great times and hard times and everything combined. Well I will just try and recap everything that kind of went on. New Years was great. We had a full p-day as a zone. We all got together and played basketball (I played and it was so fun because I have not really played competitive for a long time but finally there was another sister who liked to play too so we could both play with the elders) and volleyball and other games and ate and watched a movie. We couldn't watch Up because it was PG but we watched Finding Nemo, it made me happy because I just kept thinking of you mom and "just keep swimming" and just the little phrases like "I wish I could speak whale". So it was a good movie to watch. I was trying to guess what you would all be doing and I have to say that I think from what you told me you did that I had it right. I have a letter that I wrote on New years that I will send to you and it has my thoughts of what you would be doing and I was right on the dot. I am soooooooo good. :)

After that we got back to work and tried to make things happen in our area. We are covering 3 areas so we have our days divided up in the week of what area we will be in. so we have a lot of ground to cover and we are trying to get it all done, great stuff. It keeps us busy but that is ok to be busy and as Becky says that is how we Idaho farm girls work. :)

Mom you mentioned in your e-mail that you talked read e-mails from missionary moms and yes we did do ginger bread cookies. I did them with the elders in my district and my companions. So, YES they were a big hit, thanks to you. You are just so good and smart and knew you needed to send them. I have the best mother. I think mom you might know more about my mission and what goes on then I do. It is so funny that you have everyone’s names. Hey if you ever find out if we are getting anyone new in the Spanish zone let me know. Keep me updated on the info because you know more then me.

I am so happy that you got your SKYPE to work that is so cool that you can talk to Uncle Dan and Becky and Stewart. Yeah for technology!!!!!

Well lets see oh yesterday was Sunday and we had 3 investigators at church....we were working so hard to get our investigators to come and we got 3 of them. Right now we are working with like 5 families trying to get them to know that this is the path that they need to take but they are moving really slow but we are not giving up on them. They all have a ton of potential and we have our work to do.

I am so very grateful for this gospel and for this opportunity that I have to share it with others. Dad I am happy to surgery went well and that you are getting better and not looking as scary. Grandma I wanted to tell you thanks for the sweater and for everything. You are great I love you so much. I hope you are feeling better and that all is well. Thanks for worrying about me. You are such a great Grandma.

I hope you all have a great week...thanks for your prayers and thoughts. I love and appreciate everything. Know that I love you....this church is true.

Con Amor
